Children and Youth Ministries

Children's Ministry

Emmaus offers a weekly Sunday school program for children aged 5-11. Trained volunteers run the Sunday school program, where children have the opportunity to learn about God in a way that is age appropriate and relevant to them, and supplements the discipleship that they are receiving at home.  Children are invited to hear God’s Word, to respond to His Word through activities of play, coloring, painting, and writing in their journals. Youth Ministry

Emmaus Youth Group meets Friday nights during school term from 7:00 - 9:30pm.

We are an urban group, with students attending from all different parts of the city, and we are always happy to welcome new members. Although we primarily operate in English, many students and some of the leaders are equally comfortable speaking French.

The purpose of youth group is to teach students about Christianity, and encourage them to have a deep, personal faith in Jesus that resonates through every area of their life and effects their day to day actions. We hope to plant ideas and experiences in their hearts and minds that will bear good fruit as they grow and mature.

Our goal on Friday nights is to create a community of Christian believers who can mutually encourage one another. We talk, sing, pray, study the Bible, discuss issues, create things, play, and eat together.

We also have a Youth Sunday School class most weeks during the church service, where we study the Bible and apply it to our lives.

Missions

Emmaus’ Mission Support Team strives to promote mission awareness and to help our congregation to meaningfully support a variety of missions and missionaries through prayer and financial means. We also seek to encourage those members of our congregation who take on short or long-term missionary engagements.

Emmaus desires to have a missional heart, both for our city and province and for the entire world. We believe a mission awareness is a two-way street, not only allowing us to participate in God’s great kingdom but helping us grow as we learn how God is working outside our immediate context. We support two organizations and a dozen missionaries, most of whom have come from our congregation, in countries on all the continents (except Australia!), three different parts of Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. We try to keep our congregation aware of these missionaries and their ministry by a weekly intercessory prayer focus and a monthly “mission spot”.

Pastoral Care

The Apostle Paul said to the church in Galatia: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2) At Emmaus Anglican Church we consider it a joy and a privilege to love and care for one another in the way of Jesus. This care happens informally, as God’s people encourage, support, help and pray for one another. And this care happens formally as well; Emmaus’ Pastoral Care Team offers the following services to the people of Emmaus:

Care Teams

Emmaus’ Care Team offers help in immediate and practical areas of need. The Care Team seeks to care for people who are in need of a meal, a driver for appointments, or other types of practical help.  For more information please contact: careteam@emmausanglicanchurch.com

Prayer Teams

Experienced, trained prayer teams are available at the end of every Sunday service to pray with you. The prayer teams seek to walk alongside their brothers and sisters in bringing prayers and supplications before our loving God.  On the first Sunday of each month there is an Intercessory prayer Time from 9:30-10:15am, held in the conference room on the main floor at PC. Each month there is a special focus for prayer. For more information please contact: prayer@emmausanglicanchurch.com

Visitation

If you are in need of a friendly visit at home or at the hospital, or know of someone who is, please contact us. It is a joy to be in the presence of Jesus with you (Matt. 18:20).
